Western Gailes Golf Club

Many years of fine history run through the rich dark wooded hallways in the clubhouse, where you will be warmly greeted and even a tour offered. It is a club and course for golf traditionalists and links purists.

On the course, the first 4 holes “out” north away from the clubhouse, you then turn to play holes 5-13 right along the beachfront before turning for home alongside the railway line. Western Gailes defends itself at the greens, with deep bunkers, hollows or burns that protect the surrounding area to the immaculate putting surfaces. If you manage to miss these and navigate your way to a green in regulation, many slopes may lie between you and the bottom of the cup (some subtle and others severe!). A frequent stop for Final Open Qualifying, it has humbled some big names trying to make their way into the field for The Open.
