The Championship Links Course at Royal County Down is located in a small coastal resort in Newcastle, Northern Ireland – offering stunning views of the Mountains of Mourne. The perfect course is recognised as one of the best links golf courses worldwide.
The Championship Links course offers spectacular views of the Bay of Dundrum, the cold Irish Sea and the peak of Slieve Donard. The thin and challenging fairways are lined with spectacular sand dunes, purple heather and golden gorse which makes for a picturesque yet punishing round of golf.
The monstrous course measures 7,200 yards from the championship tees. The 4th and the 9th hole are recognised worldwide and are some of the most photographed holes universally. The 4th hole is one of the most scenic long par threes in golf featuring ten bunkers, three mountain peaks and countless gorse bushes. The 9th hole is a long par 4 which features an elevated tee facing the peak of Slieve Donard and falls 80 feet to a tight fairway and follows into a raised green, protected by several bunkers.
