With one of the most dramatic opening holes in golf, requiring a shot that carries a not insignificant corner of the Atlantic Ocean, Machrihanish Golf Club is rightly recognised as one of the best links golf courses in the world.
The classic out and back layout runs parallel to the spectacular Machrihanish Bay and it is the natural links terrain rather than considered sculpting that provides a very distinct but fair challenge for golfers of all standards. You will be struck by the 1st hole, but look out for the 12th and some great par 3s particularly on the back nine, all the while enjoying undulating but carpet-like putting surfaces.
Their new clubhouse is a stunning addition to the whole visiting experience, after the old building was devastated by a fire in 2018. It sits right next to the Ugadale Hotel, allowing for a short walk from your room to the first tee.
