Gleneagles Kings Course
The Kings course at Gleneagles is regarded by many as the finest inland golf course in Scotland. Designed by James Braid, the Kings is considered to be one of his finest pieces of work. Now over 100 years old, the course is constantly improving due to constant investment.
As for the course itself, the 1st hole is fantastic, a wide fairway should leave a shot up a steep incline to a green that runs from back to front. Go too long and you’ll have a very quick chip down the green or be short and you’ll have a 60 yard pitch back up. The Kings at Gleneagles is full of amazing holes; from driveable par 4’s, long par 3’s (the 11th is a favourite) and risk/reward par 5’s; it really does have it all. On the homeward stretch, the 18th is a fantastic finishing hole; find the gap between the two mounds and you’ve got a nice approach onto a massive green – right in front of the clubhouse. The green is certainly one that has seen many 3 putts over the years I’d imagine.
For sheer beauty, use of natural landscapes and an all-round experience, the Kings at Gleneagles is certainly one to be considered.
