Oitavos Dunes Golf Course
Recently ranked as the 88th best course in the world by Golf Magazine, Oitavos Dunes Golf Course is a brilliant place to play. As its name suggests, it is set in the natural sand dunes of The Sintra and Cascais National Park. Should you not be playing your best, you can always take in the stunning sea views and wildlife.
Oitavos Dunes Golf Course’s signature hole is a par 3 with high sand dunes on either side. Having stunning views of the sea as its backdrop and requiring a tricky tee shot over a ravine, makes this a hole that you will never forget. This 18 hole, par 71, 6933 yard course was designed by Arthur Hills.
The Estoril Golf Club first opened as a 9 hole course in 1929, but was upgraded to 18 holes in 1936. It is the oldest club in the Lisbon area, and is steeped in tradition, having held the Portuguese Open no less than twenty times. Great players like Colin Montgomerie, Gene Sarazen, and Bernhard Gallacher, have graced these fairways.
Having hosted two Portuguese Opens, Penha Longa Atlantic Golf Course is truly special. Set amidst the beautiful Sintra Mountains, this Robert Trent Jones JNR-designed course should be at the top of your "Lisbon must play" list. It also contains the 9 hole Monastery Course, which is perfect for a quick round before or after a flight.
Quinta Da Marinha Golf Course can be found 35 minutes to the West of Lisbon. 18 holes of beautiful parkland golf, coupled with stunning views of the Sintra Mountains and Atlantic Ocean make for a great day out.
