Corales Golf Course
Quite simply, an unmissable and unforgettable golfing experience awaits at the highly coveted Corales Golf Club. From the point of arrival, you can see the number of signature holes running beside the spectacular coastline exaggerating the contrasting greens, turquoise blue waters and white sand. There are no disappointing holes at Corales with the inland holes being impeccably laid out. The condition is excellent and with plenty of room off the tee, the golf course is a tough test to score but doesn’t make the mortal golfer feel beaten up or hard done by after your round.
Designed by the legendary Tom Fazio, Corales Golf Course is the jewel in the crown of Punta Cana Resort. One of the "big 3" golf courses in the Dominican Republic, it is the current home when the PGA Tour comes to town. The Corales Puntacana Resort Club Championship has many popular winners over the years, including Joel Dahmen and Graeme McDowell. It is always a strong field, with players loving the two fantastic loops of 9, both with finishing with dramatic coastal holes, with greens seemingly floating over the water.
Corales is the home to the Dominican Republic’s own Amen Corner, the final 3 holes at Corales are better know as the “Devil’s Elbow” – which is quite a daunting description. Starting at hole 16 is a beast of a par 4, measuring in at 460 yards from the very tips, it plays straight out to the water and usually into a bit of a breeze. A par here will feel like a birdie and likely be the best score in your grouping.
Hole 17 is a brilliant Par 3, that has loads of teeing options. Either playing back out to sea or along the coast, offering up lots of different yardages, but also directional options. This can completely change the hole dependant on the wind direction.
Hole 18 is one that you will remember. Standing on the tee you can only chuckle at the challenge ahead, with another immaculate fairway over to your left, sweeping all the way round to a green perched over the cliffs edge. Dependant on how positive you are feeling about your driving will depend on where you opt to send this tee shot. The braver you are the shorter your second shot will be and a better look at a chance of birdie. A truly great finishing hole.
A caddy is mandatory here and a great help as you navigate your way round this fantastic golf course.
