Castle Stuart Golf Links
Castle Stuart Golf Links was designed by acclaimed American course architect Gil Hanse, who’s career has seen him entrusted with redesigns at Merion East, Winged Foot and Pinehurst No. 4 – which is quite the CV. Opened in 2009, it is one of a swath of new courses around Scotland that are giving the old guard a challenge in the rankings.
Castle Stuart is a traditional links golf course conceived to be to the Highlands what Turnberry is to Ayrshire and Gleneagles is to Perthshire. It debuted at number 56 in Golf Magazines best courses in the world and has been host of the prestigious Scottish Open four times, since 2011. The outstanding quality of the course is matched only by the breath-taking views from virtually every hole and the beautiful art deco style clubhouse.
With holes 1-3 and 10-12 playing along the Moray Firth, there will always be stunning views at the beginning of your round, with the rest of the holes playing slightly inland and looping back to the beautiful setting on the edge of a cliff. Castle Stuart Golf Links is fair off the tee and will reward well struck golf shots. Be wary if you venture too far offline though, as wispy dunes are not the easiest or most fun to play from.
Castle Stuart is set to become a world class destination with a specially designed golf hotel with Spa and resort ownership lodges coming soon.
